Donald R. Stover

Donald Richard Stover was born on February 20, 1941 on the family farm north of Solomon Rapids, Kansas, the son of Charles J. and Josephine Haneberg Stover. He died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home in Beloit at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
Don grew up and spent most of his life in and around Beloit. He went to school and graduated from St. John's High School in the class of 1959. Following graduation, he went into the military, serving in the United States Navy. He was an aviation mechanic, and served on the USS Bennington, with 3 tours in Vietnam.
On February 27, 1965, he was united in marriage with Georgette Forsyth in Covina, California. Three sons were born to this union, which later dissolved.
Don spent most of his life as an auto mechanic, and later worked for Sunflower Manufacturing before his retirement.
He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, spending most of his free time hunting, fishing, or camping. He also taught Hunter's Safety courses for 35 years. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, the American Legion, and was a life member of the VFW Post #6242.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his three sons, Scott and his wife Martina, and Mark, all of Beloit, and Steve of Commerce City, Colorado; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney and Austin Stover, all of Beloit, Michael of Beloit, and Alejandro of Spain; two brothers, Robert and his wife Rita of Aurora, Colorado, and Chuck and his wife Roberta of Salina; one sister, Charlene Yager and her husband Joe of Cave Creek, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 15 at the St. John's Catholic Church. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the rosary service begins Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. John's Catholic Church or the VFW Auxiliary.
