Doris Aileen Boehner was born July 28, 1924 to Everett and Hattie Jane Altimus Dean on a farm near Glen Elder, Kansas. She departed this life of 86 years, 11 months and 5 days Saturday morning, July 2, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.

A lifetime resident of the Glen Elder area, Doris attended the Glen Elder schools, graduating from Glen Elder High School in the Class of 1943. While in high school, she was active in cheerleading and track.

On September 11, 1943, she married her sweetheart Earl Henry Boehner at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Two sons Stephen and Ernest were born to this happy union.

After Earl's discharge, they made their home on a farm near Glen Elder. In 1962 they built their home in Glen Elder and Earl continued to farm as long as his health would allow.

A great cook and quilter, Doris treasured making a warm and loving home for her family. She frequently busied herself working in her yard as well as crocheting. Doris was a loyal fan of NASCAR and KU basketball. Home was truly where her heart was.

Doris was a member of the Glen Elder United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Her beloved husband Earl died in 1996. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Darrell, Wayne, and Andy Dean.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons Ernest Boehner and wife Norma of Lenexa, Kansas, Stephen Boehner and wife Karen of Salisbury, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Glen Elder United Methodist Church with Pastor R. Glenn Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Glen Elder United Methodist Church or the Glen Elder Senior Center. Friends may call from 9 AM until 8 PM Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.
