Doris Jean Riemann, known affectionately as Jean, passed away peacefully Friday, January 9, 2026 surrounded by family. Her final days were spent surrounded by family, laughter, storytelling, and many sarcastic comments.

She was born on August 30, 1939, in Norton, Kansas, to Teresa and Leo Goscha. The middle child of 11 siblings, Jean often served as a second mother to the family. When her own mother returned to work, Jean stepped in to help raise her six younger brothers and sisters, learning early the values of responsibility, nurturing, and selfless love that would define her life.

Jean married the love of her life, Ronald Riemann, on May 2, 1959. Their story began in second grade when they first met, and fate seemed to smile on them early when they were crowned king and queen of their 8th grade class. Though they didn’t begin dating until their senior year of high school, it was love at first sight for Ron, a love that lasted a lifetime. Together, they built a beautiful family and exemplified what a loving, devoted marriage looks like—partners in every joy and challenge for over 66 years.

Jean was a dedicated mother to five children: Karla, Lana, Kristi, Michael, and Lisa. She found her greatest joy in her family.

After raising her children, Jean worked for over 20 years in the therapy department at the local hospital in Beloit, Kansas. She took on many responsibilities and touched countless lives with her caring nature.

A faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Beloit, Jean generously volunteered at the Economy Shop. In her free time, she was an avid puzzler and a ruthless card player who never hesitated to claim victory.

In retirement, Jean and Ron traveled to as many of their grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. No one cheered louder or more passionately than Jean—she supported her children and grandchildren with unwavering enthusiasm, once nearly kicked out of a grandson’s basketball game for her critiques of the officiating.

Jean is survived by her loving husband Ronald; her children Karla Watt (Stan), Lana Bolles (Lanny), Kristi Ackerman (HJ), Michael Riemann (Kara), and Lisa Negrete (Chris); her 17 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Marilyn Schrum (Bill) and Karen Parsons (Max); and brother Bob Goscha (Sandy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Teresa and Leo Goscha; and her siblings Imogene, Jerry, Don, Joann, Bill, Evelyn, and Jeanine.

Jean’s warmth, devotion, and fierce love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, unbreakable family bonds, and a quick wit that could light up any room.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, January 16 at the St. John's Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 6 PM Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, & visitation will be from 1 PM until the rosary service begins.
