Doris Darlene (Hiserote) Schramek was born March 28, 1933 to Virgil and Elsie (Srna) Hiserote in Lincoln county. She departed this life of 85 years early Friday morning on October 26, 2018 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, KS.
Doris was the oldest of eight children and grew up on a farm three miles east of Beloit, KS and attended the No. 3 rural school. Growing up she worked on the farm helping her mom and dad and later worked at the Porter Hotel Restaurant.
On November 20, 1954 Doris was united in marriage to Willard George Schramek. They celebrated nearly 51 years of marriage together, and to this union were born two daughters Roxie and Ronda. Their third child, Jerry Joe, died in infancy in 1962. They made their home in Beloit, KS.
For many years she worked as a homemaker, before she started working at the Mitchell County Hospital where she became the activity director of the Long Term Care facility. She loved caring for the residents and brought joy to their lives by coordinating activities, scheduling events, and making countless pillows and crafts. After her many years of service she retired at the age of 65.
Doris enjoyed drawing, puzzles, reading, sewing, and playing the slots and bingo. However, what Doris loved the most was caring for others and spending time with her family. She loved her family more than anything else and she was loved by all who were blessed enough to know her.
Her parents preceded her in death. In addition, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Schramek, son, Jerry Joe Schramek, and her brothers, Merle and Frank Hiserote.
Left to celebrate her life are her daughters, Roxie Hake and husband Jerry of Beloit, KS, Ronda Saylor and husband William of Salina, KS; sisters Mildred Ross and husband Larry of Aurora, CO, Mary Jane Gomel of Salina, KS, Frances Harman and husband Patrick of Topeka, KS, DeeAnn Vogan and husband Chuck of Junction City, KS, brother Forrest Hiserote of Beloit, KS; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joel and Jessica Hake, and Cory Saylor; two great-grandchildren Hadley and Parker Hake, and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 30th, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit,KS. Pastor Jim Brackett of the Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM with family present from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Family's Choice. Interment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit.Roberts Family Funeral Home
