Dorothy Ray Haigh-Nicholson-Buckland was born on May 21, 1943 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph Henry and Ora Elta Anderson Haigh. She died early Monday, January 27, 2020, surrounded by family at the Resident Care Center in Beloit at the age of 76.
Dorothy grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School.
On March 24, 1961, she was united in marriage with Albert Lee Nicholson in Nebraska. Three children were born to this union. Albert passed away in 1973.
On February 2, 1974, she married Joseph Edward Buckland in Concordia, Kansas, and they were privileged to spend nearly 46 years of marriage together.
Dorothy was a dedicated farm wife, as she loved farming with her husband for so many years. She also loved traveling, bowling, quilting, and taking care of her family.
In addition to her first husband Albert, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Jim, Bob, and Bill Haigh, and Joyce Green.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Joseph Edward Buckland; her son, Gregory Lee and wife Annie Nicholson of Beloit; daughters, Deborah Jo and husband Bruce Gunter of Frankfort, and Lisa Nicholson and husband Ron Grilliot of Davie, Florida; several step-children; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 AM Thursday, January 30 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice.
