Dorothy Mae Fuller, age 88 years, 4 months, and 16 days, went to meet her Lord and Savior early Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
She was born May 4, 1922 at Morland, Kansas to Charles Sumner and Jessie Hazel Sproul Johnson.
After her father passed away in March, 1924, Dorothy moved to Beloit, Kansas with her mother, brother and sister to live near her Grandparent Johnson's. She attended the Beloit school system and graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1941.
On May 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harold E. Fuller of Glen Elder, Kansas. Two daughters Janice and Jolene were born to this union of 52 years.
For twenty-five years, Dorothy worked as a sales clerk for the legendary downtown Duckwall's store. She also worked at Coast to Coast for several years following her retirement from Duckwall's.
Dorothy liked to garden, play cards, and travel to Estes Park, Colorado. She enjoyed going to Beloit High School basketball games. Dorothy was a faithful member of First Christian Church and enjoyed attending the Metallic Bible Study while health permitted.
Harold died in November 1996 and Dorothy continued living by herself until December 22, 2009 when she entered Hilltop Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her father in March, 1924, her mother in March, 1963, her brother Charles in July, 1972 and her husband Harold in November, 1996.
Survivors are her daughters Janice Stouffer and husband David of Assaria, KS, Jolene Adcock and husband Joe of Salina, KS one sister Hazel Peterson of Beloit; grandchildren Lisa Rutherford (Paul) of San Luis Obispo, CA, Maria Steinbrock (Bruce) of Topeka, Brenda Stouffer, Salina, Matt Stouffer (Kim), Deer Creek, OK, Jennifer Ochoa (Richard), Stacy Towne (David) all of Wichita, Amy Wendell & Scott Wendell both of Salina; great grandchildren Madison Steinbrock of Topeka, Johnathon, Garet, Issac and Heather Stouffer all of Deer Creek, OK, Anthony and Austin Ochoa, Aaron Wendell and David Towne all of Wichita, Preston and Trevor Wendell all of Salina. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews and friends survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at First Christian Church with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church. Dorothy will rest in state from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
