Dorothy V. Rosenthal

February 5, 1924 — December 11, 2013

Dorothy Virginia Rosenthal was born February 5, 1924 to Earl and Millie Brychta Beeman at Washington, Kansas. She departed this life of 89 years Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Downs, Kansas.

Dorothy attended school in Morrowville, Kansas, and after graduation from high school, she taught school for a short time.

For many years, Dorothy lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. She worked as a secretary for 35 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Besides her work, Dorothy loved the great outdoors. It was on a fishing trip to Harlan County State Lake that she met her husband William "Bill" Rosenthal, also of Lincoln, Nebraska. They later married and together they enjoyed coming to the Waconda Lake area of North Central Kansas, first purchasing a small home in Cawker City for use as their "cabin", and then years later becoming full time residents. She loved to fish.

Dorothy also was a homemaker. She loved to cook and for many years made and decorated wedding cakes from scratch. She was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her daughter and grandchildren, including wedding dresses.

Her parents and one brother Gerald Beeman preceded her in death.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband William "Bill" Rosenthal of Cawker City; one daughter Madeline McKinney of Amarillo, TX; brothers Clair Beeman of Tuscon, AZ, Dennis Beeman of Lincoln, NE, Richard Beeman and wife Jan of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Waconda Funeral Chapel. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Cawker City Senior Center.
