Duane Dawes McClintock, the only son of Ross and Fern Dawes McClintock, was born June 25, 1925 on a farm north of Barnard, Kansas. He departed this life of 85 years, 1 month and 14 days Monday afternoon, August 9, 2010 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
Duane grew up in Minneapolis where he graduated from Minneapolis High School in the Class of 1943. During high school he was employed at the R.S. Todd Funeral Home but decided to take up farming, beginning with a used steel wheel tractor that his father took in on trade for a car.
While in high school he met Mary Eloise Harris and they were married December 8, 1946 at the Beloit First Christian Church. They were the proud parents of one daughter Marcia.
After their marriage, they made their home on a farm in the Green Mound community. Duane loved his work, seldom taking a day off; a vacation for him was leaving in the morning and returning by nightfall.
A kind hearted, hardworking man, Duane was a man of unquestioned honesty and integrity. His word, backed up with a handshake meant a deal. He loved his family and treasured his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Duane was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Beloit where he faithfully served as an elder. In addition, he served as Mitchell County Commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his beloved wife Mary of the home; one daughter Marcia Davis and husband Gary of Wichita; three grandchildren Heather Schrotberger and husband Mike, Hilary Koehn and husband Joshua, Brandon Davis; four great grandchildren Fern & Iris Schrotberger, Ethan & Julia Koehn & many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 12 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church.
