Edna Irene Cashman

Edna Irene Cavin Cashman was born on September 12, 1933 in Monmouth, Kansas to Oliver Newton and Margaret Beatrice (Mishler) Cavin. She departed this life of 77 years, 4 months, and 9 days on January 21, 2011 at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital.
Irene, as everyone knew her, was united in marriage to Roderick (Rocky) James Cashman on March 30, 1949 in Seneca, Kansas. Eight children were born to this union: Teddy, Roderick, Jackie, Frederick (Fritz), Terry, Marjorie, Carolyn, who was stillborn, and Paula. Irene and Rocky moved to Cawker City in 1964 were they made a home and raised their family.
Irene was a homemaker. Her greatest joy was taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending their school programs and ballgames. Irene loved to cook a grand meal to gather her family together. She loved to play games with the family, especially pinochle, wahoo, and carom. Irene also loved watching car races. She especially enjoyed the races when her sons and family were racing.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky, on April 21, 2007, one son, Jack, on March 15, 2000 and a daughter, Carolyn D, who died at birth in 1960, her parents, two brothers, Wesley and Frankie, and two sisters, Marie and Maudie.
Those left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children, Ted, Salina, Rod (Joyce), Downs, Fritz (Roberta), Downs, Terry, Topeka, Marj (Bill) Vowinckel , Glen Elder, Paula (Toby) Marlier, Cawker City, two sisters, Betty Williams and Pauline Smith, one brother, Bobby Cavin, her 16 grandchildren, Mike Cashman, Megan Cashman, Jeanette Murray, Jennifer Bergmann, Joshua Cashman, Janaya Cashman, Nancy Miller, Carolyn Cashman, Fred Cashman, Tyson Cashman, Travis Cashman, Cindy Sanchez, Misty Thornton, Brandi Zimmer, Tazsa Marlier, and Prairee Marlier, 21 great-grandchildren, and several friends and neighbors.
The family will hold a private family service on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Cremation will take place. Memorials may be given to the Chautauqua Isle of Lights.
