Edwin D. Weeks

Edwin Dean Weeks, (Dean) 80 of Cawker City, Kansas died September 15, 2019, at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kansas.

He was born on a farm near Beaver Kansas May 2, 1939.

His parents were Viola (Leurman)Weeks and George Weeks.  He had 3 brothers, George, Terry, & Loren

Dean spent his youth growing up on a farm East of Cawker City Ks. This farm is now part of Waconda Lake. He attended school in Cawker City. He enjoyed hunting fishing & trapping.  He also played football and other sports for the Cawker City Pirates. He attended the Friends Church South of Glen Elder as a youth. He later joined the Cawker City United Methodist Church.

He attended Fort Hays one year, and then in August 1957 joined the Kansas Army National Guard.  He received his honorary discharge after serving 8 years.  3 years active duty and 5 years reserve duty.

Dean was a farmer. Crops he raised were corn, wheat, soybeans, milo. He also had a small cow/calf operation. Some of his crops were on irrigated ground.  He loved to listen to the water running down the rows. Many hours were spent moving irrigation pipe.

He worked very hard on the farm and was best known for making straight rows. He retired from farming in 2017.

One of his favorite hobbies was trapping. He knew what animals were in the area just by looking at the tracks. He liked hunting and fishing too, but by far trapping was his favorite.

Four children were born from his first marriage, Julie (Larry)Bernard, Russell Kansas, Rick (Donna) Weeks, Cawker City Ks, Troy (Janelle)Weeks, Middleton Idaho, Tiffany (Gary) Putnam, Wichita, Ks.

Stepchildren: Scott (Jamie) Schneider, Russell Kansas, Kimberly (Brent)Steinle, Lucas, Kansas.

Grand Children: Brady (Jessica) Frewen, Brighton Colorado, Hailey (Cody) Braz, St. Francis, Kansas, Jade Weeks Las Vegas Nevada, Raven Weeks, Meridian Idaho, Allegra Weeks, Grants Pass Oregon, Nicholas Weeks, Ark City Kansas, Nathan Weeks, Cawker City Kansas, Kennedy Putnam, Kasey Putnam, Wichita Kansas

Step Grandchildren:  Noah Schneider, Lawrence Kansas, Brittni Hays, Bristol Rhode Island, Tristen (Isaiah) Stierlen, Russell Kansas, Seth Schneider, Russell Kansas, Trai (Jazmayn) Heenan, Wichita, Kansas, Ty (Tish) Heenan, Lucas Kansas, Brittni Steinle Salina Kansas, Bailee Steinle, Lincoln Nebraska, Jaxson Heenan, Lucas Kansas,

Great Grand Children: Maverick and McKenna Braz, St. Francis, Kansas, Ryker Weeks, Glen Elder, Kansas, Julian Heenan, Wichita Kansas & Dalaynee Benoit, Wichita Kansas.

Loved ones who preceded Dean in death are his parents George and Viola(leurman) Weeks, brother Terry Weeks, brother George Weeks.

Dean is survived by his wife Carol, all his children, brother Loren (Jolene)Weeks, Sister in Law Doretta Weeks.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, September 20 at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM Thursday, September 19 at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Church.
