Emma Jean Nichols was born December 27, 1933 to Roy Vernon and Grace Belle McCune Cliff at Beloit, Kansas.
She gently eased
into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 12, 2009 in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 26 days.
A graduate of Beloit High School, Jean lived in a variety of communities including Hays and Osborne but always regarded Beloit as "home". While in Hays, she enjoyed working as a secretary for the Sternberg Museum.
Jean married Leonard Wiss, and a daughter Kelly and son Michael were adopted into this union. They lived in Colorado for several years and this union was later dissolved.
Later, she married Charles Shaheen and became the stepmother to his children Dana, Carol, and Raymond. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and later Osborne, Kansas until his death in 1998. She later married Claude Nichols who also preceded her in death.
Always on the go, Jean loved to be with people. Jean was eager to help anyone in need. She graciously volunteered her time and talents wherever they were needed. She came back to Beloit and lovingly cared for her mother and sister.
Jean was a faithful member of First Christian Church and was present for many church functions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Margaret McCune, one stepson Raymond Shaheen, and two husbands Charles Shaheen and Claude Nichols.
