Eric Platter

Eric Lowell Platter left this life too soon on October 14, 2019 at the age of 18.  He was born on May 25, 2001 to Gayle Lowery and Jeffrey Platter, Amarillo, Texas.  He spent most of his life there and in Beloit, Kansas.  He was baptized into the Lutheran Church in 2006 and confirmed in May, 2013.  When he was 15, he had a seizure from a brain tumor that he had removed when he was 16.  At the time of Eric's passing, he was attending St. John's High School in Beloit.  Before moving back to Kansas, he attended Arcadia High School in Arizona and Amarillo High School in Texas.  He excelled in his academics and pursued his interests in Orchestra, Architecture, Latin, Ecology and Cross Country.

Eric was known for his quirky humor, intelligent observations, and kind-hearted nature.  He enjoyed reading, riding his bike, climbing trees, running, and video games.  When he was little, his favorite movies were Star Wars and Indiana Jones.  He liked to spend time with animals and his pets.  He expressed his enthusiasm for music by playing the piano and bass and jamming to his retro favorites.  When he was happy, he would sing.  He was strong, with lots of ambition and a determined chin.  He had a lovely smile and a brilliant mind.  He brought joy to all who knew him.  Never boring, Eric was talented in all that interested him.

Eric is survived by his mother Gayle Lowery of Beloit, Kansas; father Jeffrey Platter (Kristin) of Amarillo, Texas; sister Amy Platter of San Antonio, Texas; grandparent Lois Platter of Graettinger, Iowa; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.  He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rodney and Daisy Lowery, and Lowell Platter.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, October 17 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed. Memorials will be determined at a later date.
