Ernest Endsley

February 2, 1939 — August 25, 2023

Ernest Floyd Endsley was born February 02, 1939, to Ancil and Dorothy (Trams) Endsley at Alton, Kansas.  He departed this life of 84 years peacefully on the morning of, August 25, 2023, at Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas.
Ernie grew up in Osborne and Jewell, Kansas.

On July 1, 1972, he married Marilyn Maureen Endsley at the First United Methodist Church in Beloit.
Ernest proudly served in the United States Air Force as a fire fighter stationed in Alaska.  Locally he worked for the Randall Farmers Coop, Briggs Welding, and NCK Regional Planning Commission for many years.  After a full day's work, he continued working on the farm in Jewell, KS growing crops and raising livestock.  In the evenings, he enjoyed his family, pets and favorite TV shows.

Ernie was active in several Masonic and Shrine organizations.  Recently, a Masonic Brother referred to him as "One of the good ones."  Ernie particularly loved raising money to help less fortunate children through the ISIS Shrine Temple in Salina, the NCK Shrine Club and the Isle of Lights.  He was most passionate about "helping the kids!"  To this end, Ernie enjoyed riding in the Blue Patrol in parades and thoroughly loved mingling the parade crowds as a Shrine clown and did so for years.  Ernie was an active member of the Beloit Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star, and the ISIS Shrine.  Ernest was Master Mason and served as Master of the Beloit Masonic Lodge, Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star in Beloit and was proud to be a Potentate of the Isis Shrine 2012.  He was a 3rd Degree Master Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a York Rite Mason.

Ernie was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his many friends.  He treasured his wife Marilyn and loved her dearly.  He enjoyed the role of grandfather and delighted in being with his grandchildren whenever possible.  Ernie always looked forward to hunting season and was an accomplished deer and pheasant hunter.  He particularly enjoyed pheasant hunting season when groups of 20 to 30 plus of his friends would descend on the farms of family and friends in the Mitchell and Jewell County area for opening pheasant hunting weekend.  Ernie and his son Troy would lead these groups of hunters across hundreds of acres in search of pheasant and quail to harvest.  His wife Marilyn, would bake pies for the hunters and would enjoy spending time with them late into the evening with many fun stories shared around the evening fire.
Ernie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beloit and took pride in participating in many church activities with his wife and his children.
His wife, parents, brother Bill and sister Madeline preceded him in death.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his sister Jenny (Endsley) Killen of Riverton, IA, son Ernest F. Endsley II and wife Rachelle of Raytown, MO, son Troy Endsley and wife Jennifer of Downs, KS step daughter MaryLynn Blacklock and husband Carlos of Derby, Kansas; step son Marvin Hodgson and wife Marla of Fort Worth, TX, grandchildren Samantha (Gerstner) Hudson, Casandra (Gerstner) Elam, Jessica (Gerstner) Jones, David Endsley and Shay (Endsley) Spellman, Kelli (Blacklock) Llorence, Kimberly (Blacklock) Webb, Zachary Ryan Hodgson, great grandchildren Bailey Endsley, Savannah Hudson, Brandon Hudson, Jaxon Ahring, Jordan Elam, Ariella Gerstner and Weston Webb and many nieces and nephews.
