Eugene T. Seyfert

Eugene Theodore Seyfert was born September 23, 1926 to Theodore and Emma Janda Seyfert on a farm near Claflin, Kansas. He passed away early Monday, December 5, 2005 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 79 years.

"Gene", as everyone knew him, was the oldest of six boys and grew up on the farm in Barton County, Kansas. He attended high school at Clafin.

On October 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to Catherine Cecilia Krier at Claflin. This union was blessed with five children Shirley, Janice, Terry, Sharon, and Cherie. They enjoyed their married life on their farm near Hunter.

"Gene" was a farmer and also had his own dirt construction business. He was a perfectionist when it came to building terraces, waterways and ponds, and loved what he did. Farming was one of his passions and he loved dogs, cats, birds, cows, and horses. He was never too busy to take a break, drive to the COOP Station in Hunter for coffee and stories with his buddies.

Besides his work, Gene treasured his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play together at family gatherings.

He was baptized into Christ on November 26, 2005.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Alvin Seyfert.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Catherine of the home; five children Shirley Beuerlein of Benton, Kansas, Janice Kastner and husband Nick of Wichita, Kansas, Terry Seyfert and wife Julie of Beloit, Sharon Dohe and husband Larry of Vesper, Kansas, Cherie Simmons of Beloit; four brothers Donald Seyfert and wife Joyce of Colby, Kansas, Ivan Seyfert and wife Barbara of Salina, Kansas, Dale Seyfert of Claflin, Kansas, Kenneth Seyfert and wife Norma of Hoisington, Kansas; a sister-in-law Clara Seyfert of Ellinwood, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of many friends.
