Eunice Eileen was born April 24, 1923 to Silas and Candrus Bohannon on a farm at Limestone, Arkansas. She was the first born of four girls. She departed this life at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 2 days on Tuesday, February 22, 2012 at the Salina Regional Health Center.
She grew up in Limestone, where she attended school and lived with her family on a farm working beside her dad and helping her mom in the home doing lots of laundry.
On November 4, 1943 she was united in marriage to James Noel Jay at the court house in Harrison, Arkansas. To this union four children were born – Harold, Linda, Patricia and Joleen.
Noel had a restless spirit but Eunice gathered her children and their belongings to move the family from Arkansas to Missouri to Kansas to California and back again. They settled in Glen Elder where they lived the rest of their lives.
Eunice loved to cook and everyone enjoyed her fried fish, potato salad and homemade pies, which she made for church dinners.
She faithfully attended and was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Gail; a sister Bernice; her parents Silas and Candrus, and her husband Noel Jay.
She is survived by her son James Harold Jay and wife Linda (Olson) of Glen Elder; daughters Linda Hoffman and husband Kenley of Tipton, Joleen Jay of Beloit; grandchildren Jeff Jay, Colby, Jerold Jay and wife Christy, Valley Center, Janelle Jay, Andover, Kevin Hoffman and wife Lisa, Salina, Tricia Fry and husband Michael, Salina, Melissa Lyle, Tipton; great grandchildren Ethan and Corbin Jay, Haley and Josh Jay, Bradley Wagner, McKennzie Mullin, Chandler, Lydia and Hannah Hoffman, Peyton Fry, and Chantell Lyle; great great grandchild Kale Lyle; two sisters Zola Adams, Kansas City, MO and Ovalene Davis and husband Hershel, Haysville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, February 27 at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Beloit followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Glen Elder. Visitation will be from 1-8 Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Church or OCCK.
