Eva K. Mendenhall

Eva Katherine Mendenhall was born on May 13, 1921 to Harry and Mabel Chor Bell on a farm northwest of Lebanon, Kansas. She died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 25 days.
Eva attended country schools and graduated from Lebanon High School before attending Business College in Denver, Colorado.
After returning home from college, Eva married Verl Mendenhall in Beloit, Kansas on September 11, 1940. To this union were born three sons, Arnold, David, and Arden. They made their home on a farm northwest of Ionia in Jewell County, and farmed from 1940 until 1969. They also raised Hampshire Sheep, and she was most proud of their Hereford Cattle.
They moved to Beloit in 1969, and she worked at Montgomery Ward's, Beloit Motor Company, and at the Federal Crop Insurance Office. After they retired, they traveled extensively, getting to nearly every state and a trip to Europe. She also loved to fish, and was also in a bowling league for many years, where she was able to bowl a perfect game of 300.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Verl in March 2010, and her brother, George Bell.
She is survived by her three sons, Arnold and wife Agnes of Hickman, NE, David and wife Carol of Sterling, NY, and Arden and wife Cathy of Wittmann, AZ; her twin sister, Neva Litton of Beloit; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, March 12 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be given to Hilltop Lodge.
