Evelyn A. Topliff

September 7, 1913 — March 4, 2006

Evelyn Augusta Topliff was born September 7, 1913 to Grover Wilhelm and Mina Hazel McBrien Haring on a farm just north of the Nebraska, Kansas border in Franklin County, Nebraska. She departed this life of 92 years, 5 months, and 27 days Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
Evelyn was raised by her maternal grandparents Samuel and Elizabeth McBrien, and graduated from Smith Center High School.
On November 8, 1941, she married Derbin Blair at Beloit, Kansas. They moved to Wichita, Kansas where, during World War II, she was an inspector for Boeing Aircraft. After World War II, they moved back to Beloit where they operated an antique shop known as Remember Antiques. Mr. Blair died in 1959.
A short time later, Evelyn married Charles G. Jordan and became the mother to his sons Michael and Timothy. This union was later dissolved.
On December 21, 2001 she married David Clinton Topliff and they cherished four years together.
Evelyn was a people person at heart and never knew a stranger. She was a sales clerk for Duckwalls and J.C. Penny's in Beloit. Besides working, she loved attending concerts of all types and her greatest leisure activity was dancing. Quieter moments were happiest spent playing the piano, reading, and knitting, crocheting, and canning the bounty of her garden.
She was a member of the Beloit United Methodist Church, and also a founding member of the Triangle Boosters 4H Club, a longtime member of the Quest Club, Naomi Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Liberty Rebekah Lodge, the Picnic Ants Club, Water Lilies Exercise Group, and the North Central Kansas Genealogical Society.
Her parents, one infant sister Avon, and her first husband preceded her in death.
Survivors are her husband Clinton Topliff of Beloit, sons Mike Jordan and wife Joyce of Beloit, Tim Jordan of Beloit; one sister Madeline Sutton of Lakewood, Colorado; one half brother Dr. Norris Haring of Bellevue, Washington; five grandchildren Jenica Sue Jordan, Mark Jordan, Tracy Jordan, Gregory Jordan, Emily Jordan; one great grandson Kavin Alan Bowlin; a host of many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Pastors Ken Parker and Marion Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with rites by the Order of the Eastern Star. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Radio Broadcast Fund. Mrs. Topliff will lie in state at the McDonald Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
