Irma Faye Huffman Campbell, age 93, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. She and her twin brother Vernon Ray Huffman were born September 24, 1922 to Walter G. and Stella Edna Critchfield Huffman on the family farm in Asherville, Kansas.
Faye, as she was known and loved by all, graduated from Simpson High School and attended Dodge City Community College for secretarial training. She was the secretary for Farm Bureau and the Mitchell County Extension Office. She married Clifford V. Campbell on October 8, 1943 in Beloit while he was on furlough from the Army Air Corps. When he was in the Army they lived in Boca Raton, Florida. After World War II, they moved to the family farm southwest of Beloit where they lived for nearly 70 years. They celebrated 72 years of marriage on October 7, 2015. Faye was a member of the Pleasant View Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Nifty Needle Club. She enjoyed accompanying Cliff to Topeka for fourteen years while he was in the legislature. In addition to being a wife, homemaker and mother, she served as 4-H Club leader and enjoyed sewing and cooking. Faye was an excellent bookkeeper for the farm, Pleasant View Church, and Center Township.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Loren, Ralph (Red), Ray Huffman, and sister Beulah (Huffman) Chapman.
Faye is survived by her husband Clifford Campbell, Beloit, children Jim (Elaine) Campbell, Jeannine (Ed) Mondero, Ness City, KS, Terry (Charlotte) Campbell. Grandchildren Maria (Robin) Goter, Frederick, CO, Chris (Cierra) Mondero, Beloit, Ashley Campbell, Beloit, Christy (Josh) Miller, Beloit, Nick (Katrina) Mondero, Manhattan, KS, Kendra (Jim) Zimmer, Wichita, Trever (Jessica) Heidrick, Beloit; great grandchildren Goldie, Marina, and Campbell Goter, Frederick, CO, Max Miller, Beloit, Makenzie Zimmer, Wichita, Xander and Jocelyn Heidrick, Beloit.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Pleasant View Methodist Church or Solomon Valley Hospice. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
