Frances Arlene White was born April 21, 1928 to George R. and Merle Bettis Haser at Belleville, Kansas. She departed this life of 88 years, 9 months, and 4 days while in her sleep at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
Frances grew up in Scandia, Kansas and graduated from Scandia High School.
On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arlis Jean White in Scandia. Two children Gregory and Pamela were born to this union of 38 years.
Frances and her young family moved to Beloit in the late 1950's. Arlis worked for the United States Bureau of Reclamation during the construction of the Glen Elder Dam. He later worked for Krier Electric and Ackerman Supply. Besides raising her children, Frances worked at the Mainliner Motel for several years and then at Ackerman Supply.
For over thirty years, Frances was an integral staff member at the Banner Restaurant. She loved people and especially enjoyed working the drive-thru counter. Always hardworking and friendly, Frances knew how to make customers feel at home. During her tenure, Frances worked for Ed & Joyce Hartman, Steve Hartman, and Tim Parker.
A delightful, strong-willed, and independent person, Frances made the most of her life. She focused on the basics and loved being busy. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, sewing, knitting, bird watching, and gardening, and in later years cards and computer games. She enjoyed taking bus trips, cruises and vacations until her health no longer to do so. Frances greatly enjoyed her family, attending the activities of her kids and grandkids and cherished being with her great grandchildren.
A woman of great faith, Frances was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church and attended whenever possible. Her faith in Christ enabled her to get through the untimely loss of her son Gregory White in July, 1968 and the death of her husband Arlis in March, 1985. Frances was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister Edna Mae Hallowell.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are daughter Pamela Krier and husband Stan of Tipton; three grandchildren Scott Krier and wife Amber of Beloit, Sean Krier and wife Jessica of Tipton, Alison Krier of Hays; six great grandchildren; two nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the Riverview Cemetery at Scandia, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association. Frances will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
