Gale Schroeder, 67, of Tipton, left this life Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Salina Regional Medical Center. Gale was born May 27, 1943 to Isadore and Christine (Fischer) Schroeder in Scott City, Kansas.
Gale was a life-long resident of Tipton. He and his mother moved to Tipton while his father was serving overseas in World War II. The family resided on a farm west of Tipton after his father returned home. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1961 and then entered the Army National Guard, serving for four years.
On November 26, 1966, Gale married Reta Pahls, also of Tipton, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, and they enjoyed nearly forty-four years together. To this union, four children were born: JoLynne Zade and husband Jerry of Shawnee; Brad and wife Tiffany of Beloit; Dean of Beloit, and Jenna Fiala and husband Travis of Bel Aire. Gale has four grandchildren: Hannah & Alison Schroeder, and Audrey & Noah Zade.
Gale owned and operated Schroeder Building & Cabinetry for over 40 years, during which he built custom homes, commercial properties, remodels, and his passion was designing and building custom kitchen cabinetry. His many labors included projects he did for the school, church, and other community services. He was especially proud of his part in building the stained glass window above the altar in St. Boniface Catholic Church. Gale's greatest pride was his family, always ensuring that they were well provided for. He especially enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. Gale will be missed dearly by all family and friends.
Gale is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; father Isadore of Osborne; brothers Merle of Osborne, Leon, Darrell, and Steven all of Tipton; sisters Karen Sigg of Topeka; and Janet Tisdale of Victoria, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Christine.
