Gary Lynn Kohl was born October 27, 1953 to Russell Dale and Ruby Broberg Kohl at Norfolk, Nebraska. He departed this life of 53 years, 8 months, and 2 days early Friday morning, June 29, 2007 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita following a two vehicle accident near Cawker City.
Gary attended school in Norfolk and then came to Kansas in 1971 while working as a cable installer for the telephone company. It was in July, 1971 that he met Sue Kaye Lahodny and October 29, 1971 they were married at Narka, Kansas. Two sons Kevin and Scott were born to this union.
In 1972, Gary and Sue moved to Cawker City. Gary worked at Waconda Motors for several years, and then accepted a position at Richardson Manufacturing Company. Most recently, he became a grain elevator attendant at the Farmway COOP elevator in Tipton, Kansas.
A friendly, rather easy going person, Gary was always there for his family. He loved coaching and cheering on his sons in their activities. Gary loved the outdoors and was an avid race car enthusiast, ardent NASCAR fan, and a devout Nebraska Cornhusker. As his family circle grew to include grandchildren, he loved spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Connie Sue Kohl, and one brother Ronald Kohl.
Survivors are his wife Sue of the home, sons Kevin Kohl of Cawker City, Scott Kohl of Downs; one brother Dorsey Kohl and wife Pat of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren Keegan Kohl, Braelynn Monty, Ally Lowe, Chevy Kohl, and Korbin Naasz; several cousins Bill & Linda Borgmeyer, Jack & Judy Butterfield, Jim & Mary Borgmeyer.
Gary will also be deeply missed by a host of many relatives and friends.
