George Kenneth File, the son of John George and Susan Emmot File was born December 6, 1926 on the File farmstead east of Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 81 years, 11 months, and 29 days late Thursday evening at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit following a rather lengthy illness.
"Ken", as everyone knew him, graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1945 and enlisted in the United States Army immediately upon graduation. He was a Military Policeman in Munich, Germany until his discharge in 1948.
On October 26, 1952, he married Charlotte Lurene Peavey at the First Christian Church in Beloit. Four children J.B, Connie, Ken, and Max were born to this union.
At a very early age, Ken developed a strong work ethic which enabled him to be very successful with managing the family farm. He was meticulous in his practices, wanting things done his way. In his own style, Ken taught life lessons to his family, including his work ethic, commitment to family, pride in a job well done, learning to laugh and not sweating the small stuff.
A rather quiet, introspective person, Ken enjoyed staying close to home. There, he read extensively and was very well versed in many areas and could talk at great length with just about anyone. He enjoyed woodworking and working with jigsaw puzzles of all types. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling. Ken liked listening to the sounds of Frank Sinatra and watching old John Wayne movies.
He was a proud veteran of World War II and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was committed to being a good citizen and wanting to keep America strong.
His parents, sister Maxine Heidrick and husband Robert Heidrick and their daughter Mary Lindquist preceded him in death.
