Beloit

Gladys Elaine Miller, 85 of Beloit, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
Gladys was born on February 5th, 1933 on a farm about a mile and a half south of Montrose, Kansas, to Elza and Mary Adeline "Addie" (Beanblossom) Miller. The family later moved to Burr Oak, Kansas, where Gladys graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1950. Gladys was then joined in marriage to R.D. "Frosty" Clegg on August 4th, 1950. To this union three children were born: Michael Dean Clegg (deceased), Patricia Elaine Helbach (Hilton), and Mari Lynn Tyler. The family moved to Beloit in 1959.
Gladys worked in an abstract office for seven years before buying and taking over the business in January of 1978. Gladys owned and worked at Mitchell County Abstracts, where she utilized one of the first word processing computers in Mitchell County, until her retirement at the age of 62.  In her free time Gladys enjoyed working in her flower beds, teaching Sunday school at the Methodist Church and playing the piano. She always had a wonderful ear for music. Gladys was also an active member of the Pleasant View Methodist Church, until she was no longer able to attend due to age and illness.  After her retirement, she published a book of her poems titled "My Poet Tree".  She loved writing poetry and stories and visiting with friends and family.
On September 22nd, 1984 Gladys was joined in marriage to Vernon Vail McClintock. The couple resided in Beloit. They enjoyed getting all the family together, spoiling their grand kids, being active members of the church and square dancing!
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents Elza and Addie Miller; brothers George, Donald and Virgil Miller.  Sisters Virginia Neilson and Frances Spooner;  son Michael Clegg; and granddaughter Marcy Helbach.
Gladys is survived by her brother Rev. Lyle Miller of Stockton, KS.  Daughters Mari Tyler of Beloit, and Patricia Helbach (Hilton) of Hope, KS. Grandchildren Jake Tyler of Beloit, Jessa (Tyler) Coulsand and Jordan Cousland of Manhattan, KS, Mindy (Helbach) Huston and Derek Huston of Blue Springs, Missouri, Michael Helbach of Ramona, Kansas,  Margo Helbach of Columbus, Georgia, and Fulicia Raya-Sligar of Hutchison, Kansas.
