Gregory Donald Pounds, Glasco, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 72 at the UNMC in Omaha. Greg was born August 26, 1951 in Beloit, KS to Donald and JoAnn (Smoot) Pounds.
Greg attended several different schools while growing up. He graduated from McPherson High School in May of 1969. Greg also attended college at NCK Area Vo-Tech and Brown Mackie College. He liked to travel and visit family when he was able.
Greg met Janette Henderson in 1983 and were later married November 26, 1983. To this union, they were blessed with six children. Although too precious for earth, Kerri Lynn, Kaleb Donald, and Kyle Gregory were always remembered.
Greg held several positions in his almost 30-year career with Sunflower Manufacturing in Beloit. Greg was an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan, New York Yankees fan and Green Bay Packers fan. Family was a huge part of his life, he was very involved with his kids' sporting events, school activities and such. Once he started having grandkids, he was just as involved in their school activities and sporting events. He was also involved in watching his great nieces and nephews partake in activities as well.
Greg was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in August of 2013. He then underwent stem cell transplant and was in remission for 8 years until the cancer returned in July of 2021. Greg underwent Car-T Cell therapy in the fall of 2021. Throughout all of his cancer treatments, Greg still enjoyed traveling with his sisters and watching his grandkids play in sports and participate in school activities.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and JoAnn, stepfather Sheldon Annis, sister Donna Jo Pounds, wife Janette, children Kerri, Kaleb and Kyle.
Left to mourn his passing are daughters Kristen Pounds of Phillipsburg and Kimberly (Joe) Peterson of Lindsborg, son Kody (Staci) Pounds of Great Bend, grandchildren Carter and Cameron Jenkins of Hays, Colton and Caydence Ewing of Phillipsburg, Kaden, Karly and Kora Pounds of Great Bend and Erik Peterson of Lindsborg, sisters Frances Meyers, Shelley Harris and Michel Becker and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be at 1:30 PM Friday, November 10 at the Glasco Cemetery. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
