Howard Kelly

Howard Kelly of Barnard passed away January 13, 2011 at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 17 at the Barnard Methodist Church. Immediately following graveside services everyone is invited to the Community Building for fellowship & refreshments. Howard was born in 1920 to Olin B. and Margaret McBride Kelly. He was a graduate of Barnard High School. Howard & Elsie Jean Wild were married in 1942 & soon thereafter he entered the US Army Air Corp & became a pilot. Following his military service, he & Elsie Jean settled on a farm NW of Barnard. There they raised a family of 4 children while being active in the community. He was a 55 year Lions Club member, served in the church, & supported various projects in the community. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Olin B. & Margaret Kelly, & his siblings: Florence (Melvin) Jones, Hazel (Ralph) Palmer, Marie Webb-Shirk, Irma Peck-Wright, & Clyde (Hazel) Kelly. Survivors include: wife, Elsie Jean Kelly, children: Joyce (Ed) Brockway of Hughes Springs, TX, Armin (Vicki) Kelly of Plainville, KS, Charles (Leslie) Kelly of Farmers Branch, TX, & Marie (Maurice) Moffitt of Indianola, IA; 9 grandchildren; & 16 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Youthville, or the Salina Rescue Mission. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to service time on Monday at the Church.
