Ignatz "Bud" Boden

February 12, 1927 — February 11, 2018

Mankato

Ignatz "Bud" Isadore Boden was born on February 12, 1927 east of Tipton, Kansas, the son of Mike and Cecilia Brummer Boden. He died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, one day short of his 91 st birthday.

Like so many young men born in this era, Bud attended grade school finishing the eighth grade. At the age of 13, he stared working for neighbors on their farms, and continued to do so for many years, while also running a road grader for Mitchell County.

On May 12, 1948, he was united in marriage with Eugenia "Jean" Winkel at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. Their first home was at her parents' farm near Glen Elder before moving south of Ionia, and later moving to their present home north of Ionia. Seven children were born to this union. They were privileged to spend nearly 67 years of marriage together when she died in March, 2015.

Bud and Jean worked together on the farm for many years and always treasured their time together. Church was very important to him, if he was unable to attend you would see him watching it on TV.  He loved his life as a farmer and cattleman.  Enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and he was the best host. You couldn't say no to ice cream or cookies. His entertainment was listening and watching polka bands, playing cards with family and friends.

In addition to his wife Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carole Moody; his granddaughter, Theresa Boden; and brothers, Edgar, Mikey, Nick, and Jerome.

Bud is survived by his children, Leon and wife Karen of Ionia, Marlene Kieffer and husband Jerome of Agenda, Beverly McKeown of Wichita, Dennis of Ionia, Susan Flinn and husband Max of Jewell, and Debbie Elkins and husband Steve of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, February 16 at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit.
