Ila M. Stichler Thierolf passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, 18 days short of her 100th birthday, at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit.
Ila was born November 1, 1912 to Lou and Sarah Stichler of Miltonvale. She grew up in Concordia, and graduated in 1929 from Concordia High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Mill in Concordia until 1935, when she married Robert Thierolf. From this marriage were born two children, Judd S. Thierolf and Jane T. Wallace.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where for years she was in charge of the alter flowers and distributing vases of flowers to the "shut-ins". She was also very actively involved in PEO and Eastern Star.
She and Robert moved to Beloit in 1935 and started the Thierolf Grain Company, and operated it for more than 50 years.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her son Judd, and two great grandchildren, DJ Prochaska and Alex Studer.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane and husband Don; a daughter-in-law, Judy Thierolf; her sister, Pauline Girard; her grandchildren, Tami (Dan) Pruitt, Grant (Deanna) Thierolf, Mark (Julie) Wallace, Kerry (Greg) Rozman, and Sara (Robert) Prochaska; her great grandchildren, Brad and Jeff Pruitt, Nicole (Mike) McLain, Joe Studer, Connor, Matt, and Kaelyn Thierolf, and Brooke and Sierra Wallace; and great great grandchildren, Owen and Harper McLain.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, October 17 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or PEO Scholarship Fund.
