Jack Evan Jordan, the son of Cecil Howe and Clara Henning Jordan was born October 28, 1921 in Glasco, Kansas. Following a rather lengthy illness, he departed this life of 87 years, 9 months, and 12 days Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2009 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
A lifetime resident of Glasco, Jack graduated from Glasco High School in the Class of 1939.
It was on October 15, 1947 that he was united in marriage to Marianna Krizek at the Glasco United Methodist Church Parsonage. This union was blessed with two children Jerry and Jane.
For many years, Jack enjoyed farming and living on the family farm just east of Glasco. Always concerned about the welfare of the land, Jack utilized the best conservation practices and took pride in leaving the land better than he found it.
Just call me Jack was one of his many hallmarks. He loved people and was quick to make a new friend. Besides his friends, Jack was very fond of his family, frequently commenting to others how proud he was of their achievements. In addition, Jack loved reading. He was always quick to think and listen and would speak and maintain his stance accordingly.
Jack was a veteran of World War II. He was proud of his country and served in the United States Coast Guard.
He was a member of
the Glasco United Methodist Church and the Glasco Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7697.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Marianna of the home; one son Jerry Jordan and wife Beth of Leawood, Kansas; one daughter Jane DeMarco and husband Sam of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister Shirley Klein of North Andover, Massachusetts; three grandchildren Leah Jordan, Clare Jordan, and Joseph De Marco, and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Glasco United Methodist Church. Burial of the ashes will follow in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Glasco United Methodist Church or the Glasco Historical Society. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Dean Funeral Home, Glasco
