Jacqueline "Jackie" Fobes

Jacqueline Sue Fobes was born on August 2, 1945 in Ellsworth, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Betty Rowe Cole. She died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Via Christi Hospital in Wichita at the age of 73.

Jackie, as she was known, grew up in Lincoln, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. Following graduation, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education.

On April 6, 1974, she was united in marriage with Merlin Fobes, and she was blessed with three children.

Jackie started as a farmwife and homemaker, and decided to go back to school to earn her degree. She went on to teach at St. John's High School in Beloit in 1996, where she taught computer, business, and accounting classes before retiring in 2008. St. John's always held a special place in her heart, and they stayed active in St. John's activities, being named Boosters of the Year.

She also enjoyed traveling and watching KU and Kansas City Chiefs ballgames.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Merlin of the home; one son, Derek of Beloit; two daughters, NiCole Fitzgerald and her husband Ronnie of Beloit, and Misti Tyson and her husband Jules of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Genesis, An'Aliyah, Jakobi, Coleton, and Irene; one sister, Jolene Cole of Lincoln, Kansas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, December 27 at the Beloit First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM with family present from 6-7 PM Wednesday, December 26 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. John's Education Fund or the Beloit First Christian Church.
