James "Jim" Burton

James “Jim” Kent Burton went home to be with the Lord on the 24th of December 2025. Jim was born on the 14th of December 1946 to Bertum and Georgia Burton in Denver, Colorado.

Jim would go on to graduate with a degree from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s in industrial arts. Jim would marry Shirley Harrison, and they would have two boys, Duane and Keith. Jim and Shirley would divorce in 1987, and Jim and the boys would move to Durango, Colorado in 1988. Durango would be Jim’s home until 2020.

It would be in Durango where Jim would meet Linda Haloway who he would be married to in 1996. In 2020 Jim and Linda would move to Beloit, Kansas to be closer to family, and escape the harsh winters of Colorado. Jim would remain living in Beloit until his passing.

Jim is survived by his wife Linda, his two sons and their spouses, two stepdaughters and their spouses and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

While the objective details on the life of an individual can be summed up in a short paragraph of dates, people and locations, they do nothing to express the character of a person, or what they meant to those around them. Jim was a man who went by many titles over the course of his life, son, husband, father, papa, great-grandpa, friend. Though he had many titles to all those people who used them he was a man who cared deeply about those in his life, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and was strong in his faith. While Jim may be home with the Lord, the love he had for those in his life remains and will be cherished for generations to come.

Family & friends are invited to join the family to share memories, & enjoy refreshments on Sunday, January 11 at the Boost Ministries from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. Cremation has taken place.
