James "Jim" Stalcup

James Lee Stalcup was born on November 15, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Verdun and Vera Stalcup. He died on October 18, 2022 at the Downs Care and Rehab Center in Downs, Kansas at the age of 72.

Jim graduated from Derby High School in 1968, and served as a Sedgwick County Fireman and EMT. He also worked at the Sedgwick County Zoo.

On March 31, 1979, he was united in marriage with Debra Neifert. Two daughters, Rebecca and Stefanie were born to this union.

The family moved to Glen Elder, where he started working for the school district. He served many roles with the school before retiring. Upon retirement, he worked many odd jobs to fill his time.

Jim enjoyed coin collecting, coaching his daughters' softball teams, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and cats.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Debra of the home; daughters, Rebecca and husband Tony Prochaska of Simpson, and Stefanie and husband Trevor Gardner of Glen Elder; sister, Emilie Lockett of Hinesville, Georgia; and grandchildren, Sage & Jacob Prochaska, and Elizabeth Gardner.

Graveside memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 25 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Glen Elder. Cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, the Glen Elder First Christian Church, or Post Rock Humane Society.
