James W. Thompson

James Wayne "Jim" Thompson was born May 7, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Melville Eugene and Carmen Cunningham Thompson. He passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 18 days.
Jim grew up and graduated from high school in the Dallas, Texas, area. He married Kay White in Dallas, Texas on February 9, 1963.
Jim served in the US Navy, was a member of the Cawker City American Legion, and the Waconda Lake Association. He was retired from Oscar Meyer Foods in Sherman, Texas, and he and Kay owned and operated The Corner Bar, Grill, Bait and Tackle Shop in Cawker City, Kansas from 1998 to 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of the home; two sons, James Edwin "Jet" Thompson of Perris, California, and Joel Lynn Thompson of McKinnleyville, California; one grandson, Tate James Thompson of Perris; and one brother, Melville Eugene "Gene" Thompson of Lindale, Texas.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 28, at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the church, Solomon Valley Hospice or the Waconda Lake Association. There will be no visitation-the body was cremated.
