Janice E. Joiner, the only child of Maurice R. and Vera E. Lewis Watson, was born November 20, 1936 in Clyde, Kansas. She departed this life of 71 years early Thursday morning, August 7, 2008 at her home in Beloit.
"Jan", as everyone knew her, graduated from Clifton High School in 1954.
She married Carmen Dean Francis. Four children Marvin, Norman, John, and Kendal were born to this union which was later dissolved. She married Glenn Joiner in 1987 and they made their home in Beloit.
The pride of Jan's life was her family which extended well beyond biological ties. If she knew you, you were counted as family. She found great joy in the times that her children and their families were able to get together. Always known for her cooking skills, her family will long remember her gifts of peanut butter fudge at Christmas.
Her love of family could only be surpassed by her love of her Savior Jesus Christ. Jan devoted herself to following Him and demonstrating Christ's love through service to others. Long before it was popular, the phrase "What would Jesus do?" was the guiding principle by which she lived her life. As an active member of New Life Assembly of God, she would be the first to volunteer and would never turn away someone in need.
Jan had many interests and hobbies among which were crossword puzzles and flower gardening but her favorite was bowling. She enjoyed spending time talking with friends by phone and email.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her vibrant life are her husband Glenn Joiner of the home, sons Marvin Francis and wife RoAnn of Wichita, Norman Francis and wife Cindy of Clyde, John Francis and wife Liz of Beloit, Kendal Francis and wife Merri of Beloit; a daughter Lyne Joiner-Johnson and husband Charles of Summersville, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 11, 1008 at the New Life Assembly of God with Pastor Curtis Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to New Life Assembly of God or Solomon Valley Hospice. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:30 P.M.
