Jeanette Wagner

Jeanette Wagner was born on March 30, 1922 to Harry and Zerelda Richardson Worthing in Evansville, Wisconsin. She departed this life of 94 years, 9 months, and 29 days Saturday evening, January 28, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Minneapolis, Kansas.

Jeanette moved to Mitchell County, Kansas with her family when she was very young. She grew up on the farm of her Uncle Ed and Aunt Beulah Burnett near Glen Elder, Kansas. She graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1940.

Jeanette began working for the Bell Telephone Company in Beloit and enjoyed being a telephone operator for many years.

On February 10, 1942 she married Francis Edward Wagner in Salina, Kansas. Two sons Gary and Greg were born to this happy union. The family made their home on a farm southwest of Beloit, Kansas for many years and moved into Beloit in 1964.

Jeanette was a lover of the mountains and spent many happy vacations at Yellowstone and Snowy Range, Wyoming and driving up the Poudre Canyon in Colorado.

Jeanette loved her home and especially enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an excellent cook and prided herself in cooking delicious meals and deserts for her family. In addition, she was an excellent seamstress and could crochet a beautiful doily or afghan in record time.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beloit, Kansas.
Her husband Francis died in 1986. In addition, Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lyman, Harold, and Harry Worthing, Jr. and daughter-in-law Anita Sellens Wagner.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons Gary Wagner and wife Jean of Salina, KS, Greg Wagner and wife Sheila of Beloit; grandchildren Michelle (George) Kelley, Abilene, KS, Cary (Amy) Wagner, Salina, KS, Nicole Odell, Lindsborg, KS, Jason Wagner (Shannon), Olathe, KS, Lisa (Lynn) Root, Glen Elder, KS; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
