Jerome Louis Boden was born April 15,1931 on the family farm in Osborn County and died May 1, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Beloit,Ks.
He attended country school around Tipton and played in the Boden
band and was able to play several instruments meeting his future wife at one of their dances.
Jerome served his Country as a Marine deployed to Korea for 2 years where he earned several accommodations including a purple heart. He recently returned from Washington DC with his great granddaughter on the honor flight.
On June 7,1954 he united in marriage to Velora (Kay) Crimen at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton, Ks. Jerome and Kay settled near Beloit, Ks. Six children was born to this union. Virginia Baxa of Wamego, Ks., Karlene (A.J.) Baxa Beloit, Ron Boden Beloit, Don Boden Beloit, Larry Boden of Redlands, Ca. and Teresa (Mike) Anderson of Fredonia, Ks. He has 26 grandchildren and 27 1/2 great grandchildren.
Jerome was the manager for Solomon Rapids grain elevater for 25 years and farmed. He was the owner and manager of Hog Hotel, later on obtaining his CDL and drove a semi for JD trucking.
Jerome spent his retirement years going to Resident Care Center daily to sit with the love of his life of 61 years.
Jerome served as the Commander of American Legion, leader for West Beloit 4-h Club and attended St. John's Catholic Church.
Jerome was preceded in death by his wife Kay, parents MIke and Cecilia (Brummer) Boden. Brothers Edgar, Mikey, and Nick Boden. Son-in-laws Mark Robinson and Dan Baxa and Daughter-in-law Pam Boden.
He is survived by his children, Brother Bud Boden of Jewell, Ks Charles (Lucille) Boden of Concordia, Ks. and Sister Lorene (Chuck) Townsend, Sisters-in-law Phyllis Boden of Mankato and Betty Hicks of San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, May 5 at the St. John's Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 7PM Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church with visitation from 9AM-4PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Kansas Honor Flights-Wamego High School.
