Joan Frances Wagner was born on September 17, 1941 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Leah Bridger Rugg. She died on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 76 years and 2 months.
Joan grew up around Beloit and later graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1959.
In September, 1961, she was united in marriage with Edgar Wagner at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. Four children were born to this union – daughters Rosemary and Leah, and sons Nick and Dennis. They were privileged to spend more than 56 years of marriage together.
Joan worked in several places including First Federal Bank in Beloit, the drug store in Cawker City, the Cawker City Ledger, and the Portis Bank, and served as a bookkeeper for many businesses. She was also a dedicated volunteer worker, and enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her spare time.
She was a member and officer for the Ladies Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary, and served on the boards of the Museum and Senior Center.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Dennis in October.
She is survived by her husband Edgar of the home; daughter Rosemary Wagner of Hutchinson, son Nick Wagner and wife Tami of Tipton, and daughter Leah Debesis of Beloit; brother Steve Rugg of Beloit; grandchildren Erica Debesis, Cyntila Nixon, Ed Debesis Jr. and wife Tabatha, and Steven Wagner; great granddaughter, Kinley Debesis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
