Joann Elliott

Thursday, January 16th JoAnn Elliott passed in peace to join her many family members in Heaven.  She lived a long life of 94 years and 10 months.  JoAnn was from the Osborne Ks area and was the fourth of five siblings.  She grew up on the farm near Osborne and lived the hard farm life of the time.  She was born on March 21, 1930 to John & Alice O'Connor in Osborne, Kansas. She died January 16, 2025 in Glasco, Kansas.

Some of her stories she would tell was wading into the flood water of the river to gather the chickens and ducks.  She survived a car accident in her early adult hood where she broke her back and recovered after a long time in a full body cast.  JoAnn would reminisce about the dances in Tipton the family enjoyed going to. She worked for the telephone company in Osborne with her best friend Wanda Walker before marrying Keith Elliott on January 1, 1954 in Osborne Kansas. Together they shared 7 children.

Joann sold Amway products for a time and valued her time working with customers. She enjoyed caring for babies and was a babysitter for a time.  She also worked at the Glasco Public School in the library in her senior years. She loved working with the students and staff and enjoyed the library work. She said she had a passion for books. Some of her many hobbies was gardening and growing flowers.  You could always count on her having a big garden full of flowers. Her favorites were her beautiful peonies. Joann was an excellent seamstress and adored making dolls for her family. She also had quite a collection of dolls and angels. JoAnn was an excellent artist and enjoyed crafts, drawing and painting, especially in her later years. A trait she passed down too many family members.

Survivors include, Children: Lorena Elliott (Brian Annis), of Monmouth, OR; Richard Elliott (Linda) of Alsea, OR; Suzann Elliott-Ulmer (Buck) of Leon, KS; Roger Elliott (Annette) of Peabody, KS and Ryan Elliott (Nancy) of Corvallis, OR.

Grandchildren Aaron Garten (Kristi), Kyle Garten (Alyssa), Joel Garten (Riquel), Josh Annis, Jonathan Hannis (Melinda), Marcus Annis, Aleisha Elliott, Jessica Herbst (David),  Adam Firebaugh (Becky), Daniel Firebaugh (Lori), Megan McClure (John), Ashley Hershberger (Ryan), Shelby Unruh (Duane), Christa Elliott (Dylan), Chance Elliott, Jackie White, Lucas Elliott and 33 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Paul, John Lewis, sisters Dorothy Miller and Lola Mitchell and children Robert and Rebecca Elliott.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, January 23 at the Glasco Christian Church. Memorials may be given to the Nicol Home.
