Joan Bauman was born June 3, 1933 to Dois A. and Anna Eberle Bland at Shidler, Oklahoma. She departed this life of 80 years on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
"Jody", as everyone knew and loved her, grew up in the oil country of Oklahoma and graduated from Shidler High School. She then went to Tulsa and worked for a firm of five lawyers as a secretary to the head attorney.
On July 18, 1957, she married James Frank Bauman in Sedan, Kansas. Two sons Larry and Carl were born to this union. They moved to Beloit in 1970. When Larry and Carl were grown, she worked for the late Harold Jordan as a legal secretary, and then accepted a position at North Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School.
Jody loved NCKAVTS and became Assistant to the President. During her tenure of thirty-five years, she played an integral part in the expansion and evolution of the school. She retired in 2008.
Besides her work, Jody had two passions in life: her family and going shopping. She loved her family and was proud of her three grandchildren and three great grandchildren and loved being with them. She was always ready to go shopping, be it on QVC or with friends to Grand Island, Hastings or Salina. In addition, she was an ardent supporter of the KU Jayhawks basketball team and loved watching and on occasion, attending games.
She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church.
Her parents and one sister Doris Zink preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life of joy and vibrancy are her husband Frank of the home; son Larry Bauman of San Antonio, TX, Carl Bauman and wife Julie of Great Bend, KS, one brother J.D. Bland and wife Pat of Shidler, OK, one brother-in-law Bill Zink of Borger, TX; three grandchildren Amanda (Matt Clarke), Ashlee (Kurt Meyerhoff), Zachary Bauman; three great grandchildren Jordan Bauman, Parker Clarke, Jadelyn Meyerhoff, and many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday at the New Life Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Park, Ponca City, OK. Memorials may be given to the church or the NCK Tech Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
