Joel Dean Hobbs was born October 7, 1981 to Dan T. and Rita S. Williams Hobbs at Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 27 years, 2 months, and 13 days on Saturday, December 20, 2008 on a work site in San Antonio, Texas.
A 2000 graduate of Beloit Jr-Sr High School, Joel attended Hutchinson Community College and then graduated from Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education. He was currently a welder for Advance Tank Company.
From the earliest days of his childhood until the very end, Joel loved the great outdoors. He and his family spent a great deal of time hunting, fishing and enjoying nature together, often on the family farm.
A very kindhearted, humble, and hardworking person, Joel had a keen sense of dry humor. That, coupled with his blue eyes instantly won the heart of Jenny Gorsett whom he was to marry in 2009.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and Ducks Unlimited.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Orville Williams.
Left to mourn his untimely death are his parents Dan and Rita Hobbs of Beloit; his fiancé Jenny Gorsett of Carrollton, Missouri; two brothers Joshua Hobbs of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Jeremiah Hobbs and wife Lindsy of Haven, Kansas; one sister Karl Dawn Hobbs of Beloit; his maternal grandmother Luzella Williams of Beloit; paternal grandparents Dan and Beverly Hobbs of Beloit; uncles Carl Hobbs and wife Dee of Springsdale, Arkansas, Darcy Williams and wife Cheryl of El Dorado, Kansas; Larry Williams of Texas, Terry Williams of Whitewater, Kansas; a great uncle Carldon Broadbent of Beloit; a host of relatives and many friends.
Joel will be laid to rest on the family farm south of Beloit, Kansas overlooking his favorite deer stand where he spent lots of time fishing and hunting with his brothers and sister and his many friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 27 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial at the family farm. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Joel Hobbs Memorial Fund.
