John "Jack" F. Pirotte

John Francis "Jack" Pirotte was born on September 29, 1921 in Cawker City, Kansas, the son of Matt and Josephine Sahlfeld Pirott. He died early Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 11 days.
Jack, as he was known, grew up in Cawker City before graduating from Cawker City High School in 1939.
On December 27, 1945, Jack was united in marriage to Nadine Cook in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. Four children were born to this union.
Jack worked in many capacities throughout his career with the Kansas/Nebraska Butane Company, and later in an appliance store, where he sold and serviced heating and air conditioner units. He later took over management of a grain elevator, first for Bailey and Lynch, and later for General Mills.
Jack and Nadine moved to Goodland in 1977, and lived there for 14 years before retiring in the mid 80's, and later moving back to Cawker City in 1991.
Jack enjoyed his carpentry, and built several things for his children. He was also an avid gardener, and made sure his gardens were free from weeds. Jack also was a great family man, and treasured his time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a lifetime member and 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus; served on the city council and library board for several years; was a Boy Scout leader; and was always involved in church activities including choir director, parish council member, and helped to build the school.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; and one great grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine, of the home; two daughters, Sherry Brungardt and husband Lou of Norman, Oklahoma, and Kathy Heinze and husband Greg of Luray, Kansas; two sons, Steve Pirotte and wife Marlene of Denver, North Carolina, and Scott Pirotte and wife Mary of Phillipsburg; two sisters, Mary Koch of Cawker City, and Catherine Odle of Glen Elder; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for John "Jack" Pirotte, age 86 of Cawker City will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Cawker City with burial at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. A vigil service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the church, Cawker City Senior Center or Solomon Valley Hospice.
