John Gildersleeve was born to John & Bessie (Rorabaugh) Gildersleeve, on October 6, 1931. He died on March 25, 2018 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit at the age of 86.
John grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School in 1949. He retired from City Service Gas Company in 1989.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Charlotte, brothers, Orville, Ivan (Bill), Marion (Dutch) and Carl. Sisters Agnes Linder, Ione Noller, Dorothy Charles and Ruth Durkee.
Survivors are his daughters Susan (John) Bauer of Topeka, Nancy Clark of Beloit and Gayle (Darryl) Vohs of Smith Center. Sister, Irma Koster of Beloit. Grandchildren John, David, Jared, Ashley, Nicholas and Kallie. Great grandchildren Alexis, Leah, Jayden, Jacoby and Alivia.
Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Hilltop Lodge Activities or Solomon Valley Hospice.
