John spent his early years moving around the country with his family while his dad worked for a gas company.

John and his family lived in Beloit on a farm, and he worked at Sunflower Manufacturing for 38 years as a painter.
John's life centered around taking care of his family. He had pigs and chickens that he liked taking care of. He always liked hunting season when his brothers would come down and go out together. He liked helping his son work on his demolition cars. His daughter talks about waiting at the railroad tracks to walk home with her dad. He liked to go to Branson, Missouri to the shows, and would walk a mile to hear Mickey Gilley and the Baldknobbers. He liked to play cards with his family, and enjoyed having his grandchildren around. He liked building several things with wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Buie; three nephews; and one niece.
John's death has left a void that will never be filled.
