Jolene Marie Carter was born on October 28, 1948 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of James and Carmen Richards Cady. She died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 27 days.
She grew up and attended schools in Simpson and Scottsville, and later graduated from Beloit High School in 1966.
On November 26, 1966, she was united in marriage with Russell Carter. They were privileged to spend more than 51 years of marriage together.
Jolene owned and operated her own dog kennel for many years, and then later established Angel Square, which had such special meaning for her, as she cared deeply for the individuals and staff throughout the years.
In addition to raising her two children, she also opened her home and adopted two more daughters. She loved spending her time following her kids' and grandkids' rodeo and sports activities. In her spare time, she also enjoyed going to demolition derbies and races.
Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carmen.
She is survived by her husband Russell; son, Rusty of Beloit; daughters, Jami Widrig and husband Eric of Beloit, Josi Browning and husband David of Salina, and Jaci Carter of Beloit; brother Dennis Cady and wife Susan of Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren, Austin, Cadyn, Britt, Brody, and Isabela; one great grandchild, Teej Carter; six nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 27 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM, with family present from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Per her wishes, the casket will remain closed. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or Scottsville Church.
