Joni L. Frasier

September 20, 1962 — February 17, 2017

Joni Lynn Frasier, born September 20, 1962, to Thelma (Gish) and Charles Melvin Olson in Beloit, Kansas, passed away February 17, 2017 at her home after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer's.
She lived on the family farm until her father became ill and it was necessary to move off the farm to Cawker City. She attended Glen Elder Elementary and Waconda East High School, graduating in 1980. She was involved in many activities during high school, including volleyball, cheerleading, homecoming queen, newspaper/yearbook staff, and office aid. She attended and graduated from the Academy of Hair Design in Salina, where she earned her cosmetology license and spent the remainder of her life working with many area patrons at her beauty shop. Joni loved her clients and followed along with many of the children of the families she had as customers the past 30 years. Joni was extremely dedicated to her standing hair appointments; she would always say "My Ladies" and was very sincere remembering them for any of their occasions until her illness prohibited it. She was also involved with numerous community projects while working in Cawker City. The community and fellow parents always knew they could rely on Joni for volunteer work anywhere help was needed. She was baptized into the Methodist Church and then attended the Dispatch Reformed Christian Church.
Joni married the love of her life, Bryan Frasier, April 25, 1982 and to this union three sons were born, Ian Micheal, Cory Lee, and Dylan James. Her family was extremely important to her and she was involved with all their activities whether sports, class projects, volunteering for room mother, or taking the KSU bus to Manhattan. She had many great times going with her family and friends to watch KSU sports, especially football. Bryan and Joni rarely missed a home game in Manhattan over the last 20 years, and was extremely happy to attend the 2012 Cotton Bowl in Texas. Joni also enjoyed her family vacations, and she made over 10 trips through the years to Yellowstone National Park a favorite of theirs with Bryan and the boys. Joni loved living in the country and enjoyed her beloved St. Bernard puppies along with numerous kittens. The kittens were a comfort to her as her health began to decline and they were usually asleep in her lap.
Her family believes that God made her beautiful on the outside and she made us beautiful on the inside. Joni is survived by Bryan Frasier, sons Dylan Frasier of the home, Ian (Jaqui) Frasier and their children, Kaden, Caleb, and Riley Frasier, and Cory (Annie) Frasier with a future K-State fan due in June, all of Cawker City; father-in-law Ray Frasier of Downs; sisters Betty Jo (Leo) Brown of Glen Elder and Linda Beth (Harold) Jay of Wichita; her daily helper Dale Smith, along with numerous friends and relatives.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Thelma Olson; mother-in-law Jean Frasier; brothers-in-law Dale and Jay Frasier; and her grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, February 22 at the Dispatch Christian Reformed Church followed by burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 PM Tuesday at the Waconda Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
