Joseph Newton "Joe" DePoy passed away in his home in Glen Elder, KS on July 2 nd , 2021 at the age of 70.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother Rosella Suter, father Maurice DePoy, step father Milton Suter, step mother Iona DePoy and sister Carla Doxon.  He is survived by his loving wife Jo Ellen DePoy, who he married in 2009 after a long relationship.  They have been together 32 years and loved each other dearly. Joe is lovingly remembered by his children; daughter Tyleigh Mattison of Hutchinson, KS, her husband Christopher and their two children Amaleigh and Joleigh; step- daughter Jamie Conn of Beloit, KS, her husband Chris and their three children Braydon, Sydnie and Trace; step-son Joel Lomax of Solomon Rapids, his wife Mandy and their six children Alyssa, Kaden, John, Jordan, Cora and Silas; and daughter Jacki Watkins of Murdock and her husband Terry.  Joe is also survived by his four brothers, Dan DePoy of Cawker City, KS, Allen DePoy of Cawker City, KS, and his wife Brenda, Wes DePoy of Beverly, KS and his wife Cindy, Carl Suter of Cawker City, KS, and brother-in-law Kurt Doxon of Edson, KS.  He has many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews that he loved profoundly.

Joe was born in Beloit hospital on November 4 th , 1950.  He grew up in Cawker City, KS on the family farm west of Waconda Springs. He graduated from Cawker City high school in 1968.  He enlisted in the Air Force that same year and proudly served his country as a Sargent from 1968 to 1973.  He was also a veteran of the Vietnam war.  Upon returning to the Cawker City area, he attended school for auto mechanics from 1972-1973 and went to work for Moritz implement as a mechanic for many years.  He then furthered his education at Salina Vo-Tech school in 1989 and received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting.  He worked for Great Plains as a CAD operator for six years.

He received many academic accolades while attending school for both auto mechanics and mechanical drafting.  He returned to Glen Elder in 1994 and worked for Napa.  Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, brothers and their children immensely.  He was widely known for his skill in auto mechanics and was always helping someone in need.  He treasured wood working as a skill and was extremely talented in making beautiful pieces for his family.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, July 9 th at 10:30 am at the Prairie Grove cemetery in Cawker City, KS. It will be officiated by Graham Taylor of Glen Elder. The family would like all memorial donations to be made to Solomon Valley Hospice, 311 W. Main St., Beloit, KS 67420.
