Joyce M. Holl
Joyce Marie Hamilton Holl passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 84 on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 13, 1930 in Lincoln, Kansas to Edward and Lucile Bierman Hamilton. She attended school in Lincoln, Kansas and graduated with the class of 1948. She married Raymond Holl on March 18, 1950 in Lincoln, KS; they recently celebrated their 64 th anniversary, and to this union four children were born, Leon, Cheryl, Lawrence, and Elizabeth.
She resided with her husband, Raymond in Lincoln until 1951, relocated to Beloit until 1965, relocated to Mankato until 1984, then back to Beloit where she lived until her passing. She was a member of the Beloit First Christian Church. She was a soda jerk, bookkeeper, homemaker, seamstress, artist, consignment store owner, florist, worked in the Mankato Packing Plant, and as a dispatcher in Beloit (1960s). She was a much-loved mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She also mentored many as an extra mom, grandma, and great grandma. She enjoyed gardening, children, softball, bridge, playing the piano, mentoring, cooking, camping, fishing, boating, baking, and visiting. She was admired and loved by many people for her baking, guidance, and hugs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucile Hamilton; her eldest on Leon, and grandson Aaron.
She is survived by her husband Raymond of the home; daughter Cheryl Hockman and partner Annie of Hutchinson, son Lawrence Holl and partner Derek of Weston, FL, daughter Elizabeth Flaharty and husband Craig, of Steamboat Springs, CO; daughter-in-law Linda Holl of Belleville; brother Robert Hamilton and wife Sharon of Salina, KS. Grandchildren are Adam Holl and wife Kate of Belleville, KS, Daniel Douglas and wife Monica of Belleville, KS, David Douglas and wife Ashley of Courtland, KS, Nicole Kraus and husband Nick of Scandia, KS, Tina Moore and husband Tracey of Hutchinson,KS, Joshua Flaharty of Grand Junction, CO, Mataya Harrold and husband James of Divide, CO, Amelia Miller and husband Kolton of Craig, CO; step-granchildren Katie Thiess and husband Matt of Kansas City and Andrew VanKeuran and wife Mehgan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Great grandchildren Dalton, Brandon, Reese, Max, Tyson, and Brady; step great-grandchildren Adam, Trenton, Evelyn, Adeline, and Rebecca.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M.Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Beloit First Christian Church with interment in the ElmwoodCemetery.
