Juanita Lucetta McClellan was born March 5, 1918 to Tom and Sarah Rypma Warner at Portis, Kansas. Her life of 98 years, one month, and fourteen days ended peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas.
The family later moved from Portis to Downs and this is where Juanita attended country school until she was in the 7th grade. The family then moved to Lebanon, Kansas where she graduated from high school.
After graduation, Juanita moved to and worked in Denver, Colorado for several years as a secretary for the Gates Rubber Company. She eventually returned to Kansas and found employment in the Mitchell County Courthouse in Beloit. While living in Beloit, she met the love of her life Edward Bruce McClellan.
On May 3, 1946, she married Bruce and two children Dennis and Linda were born to this union. They were married for 64 years before Bruce passed away on April 11, 2010.
For many years, Juanita and Bruce lived on a farm north of Glasco. They worked together, enjoying the good and enduring the not-so-good years. Juanita also worked at the Glasco Locker Plant and the Nicol Home. She loved working in the yard planting flowers and looked forward to planting a huge garden every year. They moved into Glasco in 2000.
Juanita was a member of the Glasco Christian Church, VFW Auxiliary and a local neighborhood club for many years. She loved golf and was a member of the Glasco Country Club.
Her parents, husband Bruce, one brother Earnest Warner and one sister Norma Jean Sprague preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children Linda Fisher of Louisburg and her former husband Kenny of Pleasant Hill, MO; Dennis McClellan and wife Rita of Glasco; two brothers Joe (Darlene) Warner of Melvern, KS, John (Ruth) Warner of Wheat Ridge, CO; one sister Darlene (Sam) Burgess of Alton, KS four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Glasco Christian Church with burial in the Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Juanita L. McClellan Memorial Fund. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
