Katherine "Kate" L. Kindscher

Katherine Louise Kindscher, 90, passed away at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas on March 25, 2013. She was born in Beloit on August 19, 1922, the first daughter of Jacob John Kindscher and Marie Unkel Kindscher.
Kate attended grade school and graduated from Beloit High School in 1940. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1961. She taught third grade in Beloit for over 30 years, imparting her influence on many of the current residents of the city.
Kate loved to travel, accompanying her mother to Germany in 1950 to visit family there. She also made several trips to California by train with her niece and nephews to visit her sister's family. Kate also loved eating good food and getting together with friends. She was an avid KU Jayhawks fan. Kate also loved to play cards and visit with friends. She loved the outdoors and would picnic with family at Ed Wrench's pasture.
Kate was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church as well as Eastern Star and B.P.W. With her many years in teaching, Kate had numerous friends in the community. On her recent 90th birthday, she received many cards from former students who stated that she was their favorite teacher. She touched many lives because of her pleasant and outgoing personality. Kate always had a smile on her face and greeted everyone she would meet with her positive outlook.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elizabeth Susan Havard, and her brother Jacob John Kindscher III. She is survived by her sister-in-law Doris Kindscher of Beloit, her nephews, Bill Havard and wife Claudia of Redlands, California, Richard Havard of West Covina, California, Jacob John Kindscher IV and wife Monica of New Orleans, Louisiana, James Kindscher of Overland Park, Kansas, and Joe Kindscher of Beloit, and her niece, Ann Innis and husband Bryson of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kate also leaves behind 14 grand nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Kate's life-long commitment to education, she wished for her body to go to Kansas University Medical Center for education and research.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or the Zion Lutheran Scholarship Fund. There will be no visitation.
