Katherine L. Loofbourrow
Katherine Loofbourrow went to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017. She was 101 years old and was a resident at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
Katherine Loofbourrow was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on June 13, 1916 to Henry and Marie (Wolf) Stussy in Mitchell County. After graduating from Hunter High School in 1933, she taught for several years in rural schools. On May 22, 1938, Katherine married Carl Schulz at Bethany Baptist Church and together they had four children. They lived first in Hunter, then at Everal Peavey's ranch, and finally at the Schulz homeplace in Lincoln County. Katherine found comfort in her faith in Jesus Christ when her young son, Orin, passed away in 1952, when son Ronald was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970, and when husband Carl unexpectedly passed away in 1972. Eight years later, Katherine married Maynard Loofbourrow which led to a move into Beloit. In these later years, she stayed busy with her many trademark hobbies, including investing in her 8 grandchildren. She grieved deeply when one grandson, Cole, was killed in an accident. She now has 13 great-grandchildren that have benefited greatly from meeting and being loved by their great-grandma. Katherine will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.
Preceded by husbands, Carl Schulz and Maynard Loofbourrow; sons, Orin and Ronald Schulz; grandson, Cole Schulz; parents, Henry and Marie Stussy; and siblings, Morna Mastellar, Laverna Towle, and Alvin Stussy.
Survived by daughter, Kathleen Reimer (Lindley), son, Dan Schulz (Opal), step-daughter, Gail Hall (Stan) and step-son, Steve Loofbourrow (Roxanne); grandchildren, Sara Thornburg (Jeff), Abby Mangan (Dan), Annelise Smith (Nathan), John Hall (Angie), and Kristin Robertson (Phil), Trina Lovino (James) and Jenny Loofbourrow; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
