Kathy J. Bushell

February 7, 1957 — October 23, 2012

Kathy J. Bushell
Kathy Joan Bushell was born February 7, 1957 to Keith Edward and Peggy Darline Ryan VanWey in Scott City, Kansas. She departed this life of 55 years, 8 months, and 15 days late Tuesday afternoon, October 23, 2012 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas.
Kathy grew up in the Cawker City-Ionia area and graduated from Cawker City High School. She continued her education to become a Certified Medication Aide.
She married Steven Bushell and this union was later dissolved.
A kind hearted, people loving person, Kathy worked hard to provide for her family. She worked at the Resident Care Center and Hilltop Lodge in Beloit as a CMA, and later moved to Phillips, Nebraska and worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in nearby Grand Island. Illness forced her to quit and she made her home back in Scott City.
Besides work, Kathy enjoyed visiting with people, always making them feel special. As her health declined, she liked keeping in touch with her relatives via telephone. She was an avid gardener, loved plants and animals, especially cats. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, making jelly. Above all, her greatest love was her two grandchildren and she was always anxious to see them and spend time with them.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Her father preceded her in death.
Left to mourn her passing are her son Micheal Bushell and wife Jessica of Pooler, Georgia; her mother Peggy VanWey of Beloit; one sister Kelly Gormly and husband Mack of Beloit; two brothers Roger VanWey of Hutchinson, Alan VanWey and wife Tanya of Clay Center; two grandchildren Larissa and Katelynn of Pooler, Georgia; many relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Ionia United Methodist Church with Rodney Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Ionia Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund. Kathy will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
